Everyone needs to edit images at some point, but not everyone has the
time to learn super pricey wizbang image editing programs. This is why
we created Acorn. Add text and shapes to your digital pictures. Combine
images together to create your own. Work with layers to touch up your
favorites or make something new from scratch. Do all this and more with
Acorn.

Straightforward, convenient, and easy.
All of the tools condense into one easy to use palette to keep your
screen uncluttered and inviting. Easily move the palette around if it
gets in your way, or press the tab key to make it hide.

Layers
Use layers and blending modes to make the most of photo editing by
allowing easy placement of text and other objects without destroying the
picture underneath. Layers allow you to try things out, and change your
mind later on.

Tutorials and Documentation
Acorn comes with online documentation and tutorials, so you don't have to learn by yourself.

Text
Acorn's text tools give you control over text while maintaining an easy
to use interface you expect from Acorn. Everything from bold and italic
to kern and ligature. There's even spell check, because we need it.
Since Acorn's text tools build on top of Mac OS X's, you get full unicode support, and rich text formatting.

Drawing
Acorn features brushes that let you draw, scribble, and sketch right on
your image. Use a trackpad, mouse, or even a tablet. Acorn has
everything you need for making pretty doodles, and even has nifty math
to keep those lines looking smooth.
The Brush Designer in Acorn will help you make custom brushes, and will
even redraw your test lines in realtime- watch your brush strokes change
as you change settings such as flow and size.

Layer Masks
Use layer masks in your image to block out unwanted areas of your image or to expose layers below.

Filters
Acorn has all of the filters you're looking for, and even includes a
great interface to chain filters together to get unique effects. Perform
the same filter chain again by choosing "Last Filter" or save your
filter as a preset for later use.

Vector Shapes
Vector shapes let you make squares, circles and lines, but keep the
flexibility of changing things later on. Don't like the color of the
border? Swap it out. Do you want to make that rectangle have rounded
corners after you've made it? Don't worry about it, just click some
buttons and it is done.
You can also scale vector shapes easily without having to stress about
the shape getting pixelated or looking funny. Acorn makes adding shapes
to your image a breeze.

Screenshots
Acorn makes it easy to create mock-ups and work with screenshots. As
long as Acorn is open, press the Command-Shift-6 keys while in any
application,and Acorn will make a screenshot of your whole screen.
Your image will be brought into Acorn immediately, ready for work. You
can even turn on a preference to make every window in the screenshot its
own layer. Use this in combination with the vector and text tools to
create amazing mock-ups quickly.

Selections
Make different shaped selections, invert them, feather, even add a
corner radius. Or, if you're looking to quickly select an entire color,
try using the Magic Wand for some quick changes.
Selections can also limit the effects of filters and adjustments. If you
have a picture that is a little dim in the corner, try selecting it,
feathering the selection, and bumping up the colors using the Levels
command under the image menu.

Web Export
Acorn supports many file formats, but when you need to get that image
size smaller and still looking good for the web, take a look at Web
Export.
Acorn provides an estimate for the export file size and lets you compare the compressed version to the original.

Performance
Acorn goes all the way up to 64. Bits that is. And along with running on
your computer's 64 bit Intel chip, Acorn utilizes your graphics
processor unit (GPU) for additional graphics power where appropriate.
Less waiting equals more time creating.

Requires Max OS X 10.6 or later.

Version 3.1.1:
Fixed a bug where opening a zero length PDF would crash Acorn.
Fix: Turned off support for automatic background termination in Mac OS X10.7.
Fix: Hiding the palette with the tab key and then trying to use the
brush tool where it just was would previously fail. Now it works as
expected. Hurray!
Fixed a bug where using the eyedropper tool to pick up a color wouldn't
draw with the right color depending on what the colorspace your image
was in.
Fixed a bug where you would get an error after a warning when canceling a
save for an image in a flat format when you had multiple layers.

The image was created on VMWare Fusion 3.1.3 with a processor, RAM, 1024
MB, and a 40GB HD (expansion, 2GB slices). All of this can be corrected
after the fact. The network is set NAT.
VM HD was sealed, and all the VM image of lightning to help a little
with size. You should be able to simply double-click on the image after
decompression and fusion, and will add it to your library (for example,
"copy" if prompted). Using it in something like VSphere not what I say.

• Exact Mirror Mode. If desired, you can create an exact mirror of your
data, even if this means that some files are deleted or replaced with
older files.
• Copy Locked Files. If some files cannot be copied due to other
software accessing these files, Volume Shadowing can be used on Windows
XP or later to copy the files. If files can't be copied, the
synchronizer will continue copying the remaining files, and then retry
all those files that were locked, until all files have been copied
successfully. A limit for the time spent on retries can be specified.
• Versioning: this feature enables you to keep multiple older versions
of each file in the backup. There are several naming schemes available.

• Partial File Updating (or delta copying): this feature copies only the
changed portions of files in order to speed up the synchronization. See
the Partial File Updating documentation
• Database-safe mode: This mode requires exclusive access to the files
to be copied. If exclusive access is not possible, Volume Shadowing is
used, or the program will wait until the exclusive access becomes
possible.
• Can Use Recycle Bin for older versions of files that are overwritten,
as well as for deleted files. This is a fairly unique feature because
most programs will permanently replace older versions of a file. Using
Super Flexible File Synchronizer, you will have a chance of retrieving
overwritten files if you select the appropriate options.
• File Masks & Filters. Numerous ways to select/deselect files and folders are available.
• Daylight Savings Time / Time Zones. Since exact hour time differences
can be ignored if the file size matches, you won't have any more
problems if the file systems of two computers are off by one hour, or
even several hours. Whenever possible, UTC (world time) is used to
compare the timestamps of files.
• Easy Resuming On Disk Full. You simply make more space and ask the
software to continue copying. It can pause right in the middle of a file
until additional space is freed.
• Obsolete File Folders. If you occasionally move obsolete files to a
specially designated folder, this usually causes trouble with
traditional file synchronizers. They will copy the obsolete files back
from your laptop right into the folders where you moved them out of. No
longer! If you use the Select Folders and Files option, you can specify
folders for obsolete files using the right mouse button. These folders
are then taken into account for moving files into them, but not for
copying files out. Thus, the synchronizer does the same moving of
obsolete files on your laptop that you previously did on the PC, but it
does not waste any time copying all obsolete files between the two
machines.
